Day to day, there will be times when you think everything is fine, you appear to be happy and jolly. Then suddenly, bam, a dark mood takes over, grief may overwhelm you, the tears may start to appear. There has been no trigger at all, but your mood has changed to one of anxiety and helplessness. What do you do?
Different people have different coping strategies but here is one that works.
Find a quiet place on your own, light a nice candle if you can, sit still, pause, take a deep breath. You may wish to meditate. If you don’t like meditating just focus on your breathing and cry if you want to.
After you have done this, you might want to write down your thoughts, in a nice diary or notebook, so they are on paper rather than in your brain. You have to use a pen and paper, rather than a laptop, as the act of physically writing is therapeutic.
Do this as many times as you need to. There is no shame in getting upset, and the act of getting your thoughts on to paper will help you to let go of the pain, a little at a time.
